Information regarding overstaying your permission of stay in Thailand. (Overstay)

Overstaying your permission of stay in Thailand is an serious offense and can lead to being fined, arrested and being deported from the country.
Overstay should be avoided at all cost.

The fine for overstaying your permission of stay in Thailand is THB 500 a day with a maximum of THB 20.000. 
(only in case you surrender to the authorities)
People are found overstaying (by police checks points etc) are being prosecuted by the Thai court system and the normal overstay fine does not apply in this case but is difined by the court.

From 27 November 2015 onwards people with overstay can be blacklisted from returning back to Thailand. (OverstayorderE_1/2558)

The blacklist ruling is as follows:

Foreigner surrendered to the authorities:
– Overstay more then 90 days after permission of stay date will be banned for 1 year.
– Overstay more then 1 year after permission of stay date will be banned for 3 years.
– Overstay more then 3 years after permission of stay date will be banned for 5 years.
– Overstay more then 5 years after permission of stay date will be banned for 10 years.Foreigner being arrested and prosecuted:
– Overstay less 1 year after permission of stay date will be banned for 5 year.
– Overstay more then 1 year after permission of stay date will be banned for 10 years.Children under the age of 18 years old are exempt from the overstay blacklist ruling.
