Medical Extension

Person who requires an medical extension and which fulfill the required criteria
are eligible for an medical extension up to a maximum of 90 days.
Before a medical extension will be granted the normal extension (7/30 days if applicable) has to be used first if the person is able to come to the immigration office, Otherwise a medical extension has to be applied for straight away..

Required papers:
Completely filled in TM 7 form.
Up to date address registration.

Copies from following passport pages:
- Detail page
- All extensions from last Non-O visa or transfer stamp to new passport. (If applicable)
- Last entry stamp
- TM6 departure card (If applicable)

Passport size picture.

Medical certificate from hospital stating that the patient is not able to travel in any form of transportation and for how many days the extension is required.
(The precise dates for the required extension have to mentioned on the medical statement)

Normally the medical extension will be issued in case of hospitalization or more then 7 months pregnant.
All medical extensions are up to the discretion of the immigration officer and approved on a case by case basis.
If an new medical extension is required after the previous medical extension this can requested via the above mentioned procedure.
New medical statement from the hospital is required for every extension. 

If the medical extension is applied for by another person, a Power of Attorney has to be used to authorize the person who is applying for the extension on behalf of the applicant.
Caretakers are eligible for the same extension as the patient but they have to mentioned by name on the medical statement.
