UPDATED INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19 VISA RELIEF MEASURES ( Sept 2020 )
The Thai Immigration department issued updates to the Covid-19 relief measures.
People who are not able to submit a legal extension before the end of the grace period ( 26 September 2020) and who are not able to return to their home country due the Covid-19 situation can apply for a 30 day extension which starts from 26 September 2020.
To apply for this extension people can apply for the extension at Phuket town immigration office room 204 with proof from their embassy requesting the extension. When doing this 2 application sets have to be prepared with the embassy letter (original or printed version) and the email from the embassy to the applicant explaining the need for the extension based on the Covid-19 situation.
Each application which be checked and approved on a case by case basis.
If approved the applicant will first receive a 15 day extension and after 15 days the second 15 day extension will is issued. (no paperwork is required for this second 15 days extension)
Announcing visa relief measures on July 2020
The amnesty which currently expires on 31 July is NOT extended but all effected persons will be granted a grace period till 26 September 2020 to organize their visa situation within Thailand.
All people who are currently legally in Thailand under the amnesty have until 26 September 2020 to submit their application for their extension or depart from Thailand.
Also everybody who is more then 90 days within Thailand (For long stay visa holders or extensions) have till 31 August to submit their 90 day reporting at immigration.

Announcing visa relief measures on 7 April 2020
The persons whose visa expires on 26 March 2020 (admitted until date on their entry stamp) or later will be automatically extended to 31 July 2020.
There is no need to apply for a extension at the immigration office for this period and will not fined THB 500 per day for this situation.
31 July is the new expire (admitted until) date so people are encouraged to organize their immigration extension or travel before that date to avoid a possible overstay situation.
Persons who are due for the 90 day reporting between 26 March 2020 and 31 July 2020 are temporary exempt from reporting in this period until they are able to do so again.
Everybody is advised to monitor further announcement regarding immigration measures closely for any updates.
